Tricks is the second book that I have read by Ellen Hopkins and once again, she left me feeling so many different emotions. Something that I have learned to appreciate in her books is her poetry.
Ellen Hopkins really speaks through her poetry. The book itself isnt exactly poetry but has parts in it that are novels, written through poetry/5. But something was missing in this one. There was none of the heartbreak I felt with IDENTICAL, none of the sympathy I felt for the characters in IMPULSE (which was also divided, but only between three characters), none of the suspense of BURNED or CRANK or GLASS.
